Casa Escalera. is a renovated cottage more than 100 years old in El Saltador Bajo, within the protected National Park Cabo de Gata (region Andalusia). It has a spacious ground floor for four persons and a studio for 2 persons (upstairs). The house has a large sun- and shadow terrace with beautiful views over the village and the mountains.

Studio
The studio (upper floor) has a living room with two single beds, a kitchen with induction hob and fridge, a dining area, wood-burning cooker, television and DVD player. The bathroom has a shower, toilet and washbasin. In front of the studio is a large roof terrace.
Apartment
The apartment (ground floor) has a spacious living room with sleeping corner with 2 single beds, wood-burning stove, smart TV and DVD player. The open kitchen has a fridge/freezer, oven and hob. There is one bedroom with two single beds. The bathroom has a shower, bath, toilet and washbasin. In front of the casa, under the pepper trees, is a spacious terrace. Next to the casa is a cooling bath (3x3m).
The village
El Saltador Bajo is an authentic, former mining village where you can taste the real Spanish atmosphere. You can make beautiful walks there. The village square is situated on the rambla, the unpaved riverbed. El Saltador Bajo is situated in the protected natural park Gabo de Gata. Due to the protected status of the area it is not allowed to (re)build in the area. As a result, the villages in this area have retained their authenticity and there is no mass tourism.

Carboneras
Six kilometres away you will find Carboneras. Carboneras is a fishing village without mass tourism, but with a nice boulevard and a long sandy beach. Carboneras has many facilities; such as a large supermarket, medical centre and cosy restaurants and bars where you can eat delicious tapas with a beer. In the summer there are regular music performances.
Activities
Cabo de Gata has a variety of picturesque beaches and coves. For snorkelers a (underwater) world is opening up! No experience ... In Carboneras you will find a diving school. The protected natural park is ideal for hiking.
